Marketing Yourself: How to Let Others Know You Exist
Hello! I am hanging out my shingle. This time not as a practising lawyer. Instead as a lawyer turned social media strategist, consultant and trainer. In short, Eva Chan helps busy legal professionals leverage social media.
I am letting my followers on social media know of my new career direction. I am also letting my friends, former colleagues and law school friends know about this news over coffee, lunch, phone calls, email, etc.
As a legal professional, many marketing channels exist for you today.
In the online world, that includes having a well-written profile on your (firm’s) website, publishing posts on blogs, and connecting with others via social media.
In the offline world, that includes meeting with people, having follow-up calls, giving presentations, contributing to newsletters, and writing articles.
The channels intertwine to help get your name out there. You need to let others know about your personal brand both online and offline.
Letting others know you exist does not mean strictly focusing on external contacts. Internal connections are just as important as external ones.
What have you been doing to let your target audience and potential referral pool know you exist? If you’re relying only on your bio on your (firm’s) website, we need to talk.
