No Time for Legal Marketing? You Need a Buddy!
When it comes to legal marketing, you may need a nudge to get started. You know you should be updating your LinkedIn profile. Or perhaps you should be drafting a blog post. Instead, you keep saying you’ll get to it. If this sounds like you, you need a legal marketing “buddy”!
You may have heard of the concept that if you tell someone you’re going to do something, you are more likely to do it. Let’s take that concept a little further. If you actually have a meeting, call, or even an email discussion with someone to confirm what you’ve accomplished, you are more likely to complete the targeted task.
So who can be your buddy? You should find someone who can help support your plan. It may be someone who you can, in turn, support as well.
A buddy can be a colleague or a friend. A buddy doesn’t have to be in the same practice area as you; a colleague in another practice area may even help with cross-sell opportunities.
The relationship requires one of you to ensure you’re both meeting on a regular basis. Also, it should be one where constructive feedback is welcomed, as one’s marketing direction may need to change over time.
Are you in need of a legal marketing buddy? If yes, it’s now time for you to contact the person you would like to be your buddy. I’m sure you have a smartphone nearby. So there’s no excuse in not making contact now.
Are you a mentor? Or someone who can support another legal professional with less marketing experience? If yes, consider being someone’s legal marketing buddy. Who knows what new business opportunities may arise from the relationship.
